What's My Name?

Is it Na Hyung Choi?  Na H. Choi?  Na Hyung Stacey Choi?  Stacey Na Hyung Choi? Na Hyung "Stacey" Choi?  Na Hyung Choi (Stacey Choi)?  Stacey Choi?

Normally, when people start a draft of their resume, the very top part is pretty much a breeze.  I sit here staring at a blinking bar between "Na Hyung" and "Choi," wondering what the heck my name should be.

Okay fine.  Legal name:  Na Hyung Choi.  Nobody knows/calls me by that.  Legal first and last name:  Na Choi.  I do not approve of Na Choi; that is incomplete.  Stacey Choi?  Nowhere in official records, except Facebook.  =P  Na Hyung Stacey Choi --- What am I?  Some aristocrat with four names?  Yet my signature everywhere, including on all of my ID's, is a cursive "Stacey Choi."  Wait, a long time ago on my passport, I had signed it a messy "Na Hyung" in Korean.

Um identity crisis.  I want to get my name legally changed to Nahyung Stacey Choi or something...

  1. For 15 years I thought my legal name was Angela Cholong Kim, only to find out while getting my driver's permit and seeing my birth certificate that my real name is actually just "Angie Kim."

You'd be surprised how much you'll miss your old name haha. I actually miss correcting people... "Angela? No, I go by Angie." Hahaaaa but that's just me xD

  2. Amen, girl. I feel ya. I actually wrote an essay about this for a class last year...lol. My mom just brought up applying for citizenship tonight and told me I can officially change my name to just "Angela Ju" then...but I'm reluctant. Mengqi Angela Ju is what I wrote on top of my resume. I have no middle name; I was never given one...just a Chinese and an English name, but equally important to me. So I think I wanna stick with Mengqi Angela Ju: first, foremost, and last name.
