Mrs. Wilkes

Pure impulse compelled me to watch Gone with the Wind today.  Oh my, that movie felt five hours long.  Several years ago when I first watched the whole thing, I didn't notice much but Vivien Leigh's half-inch-long eyelashes and huge ball gowns.  And what Scarlett did, what Scarlett said, and some of what Rhett said.  Today I thought about Melanie a lot.  Melanie Wilkes aka Melanie Hamilton aka Melly.  Someone who talks/thinks bad about no one, someone, as Rhett says, who is "so full of honor that she can't conceive of dishonor"...  Someone so kind and loving to everybody that no misguided enemy can stay an enemy.
