Today, I came here to find that barista no longer here and the furnishings a bit different. And I'm pissed. The service has been terrible. Let me enumerate:
- I noticed a "holiday blend" drip coffee on the menu and asked if they had a decaf version. The barista said she doesn't recommend decaf because decaf coffee is "evil." I asked why, and she said decaf coffee is tainted with chemicals, whereas the Counter Culture coffee she brews is taken care not to be tainted. Okay, that's fine, she's lookin' out for me...
- After lots of thinking I ordered that super high-quality holiday blend and said, "I'll just have to deal with some caffeine." The barista said, "Caffeine's not bad for you, unless you have way too much." I said, "Oh yeah, I know... It just tends to mess up my sleep schedule." Then she mumbles things about how it's still early in the day and that I'll be fine... Lady, I'm not trying to argue with you here. But coffee I drink at 8 in the morning will keep me up at midnight. Did your momma never tell you in kindergarten that everybody is different?
- While paying I noticed their new sign about a pumpkin spice latte and said, "That pumpkin spice latte looks good, too." She goes, "I don't believe in flavoring coffee." Do you want to sell your products????
- I notice that the Wi-Fi network now requires a password, so I ask her what the password is. Her response: "coffee123," without even looking at me.
- She definitely said she would bring the drink out for me if I'll take a seat. I wait, wait, wait, and no drink. I finally look in her direction when she calls out someone else's drink, and she says to me, "Your coffee's over there." I go get it, and it's already only mildly warm. Later, after like 4 sips total, the coffee's already too cold. I walk to the counter to ask if she could heat it up for me. Her matter-of-fact reply: "I can't. I don't have anything to heat it with." Have you ever heard of "sorry"? I paid over 2 dollars for four sips of warm coffee?!? This was when I got officially mad at this place...
- I overheard a customer ask if they can mix their loose leaf teas, and the barista says, "We don't do that." "You don't? Like, you can't?" "These are very high quality teas. You just don't do that." Okay, I don't normally mix my teas either, especially not a green tea and a black tea. But you were just being freakin' rude and condescending about it to your customer. You just don't do that.
- They don't do the punch card anymore.
I came so close to going up to the counter again to ask her how the heck they're still in business and declare I won't be coming here again unless she acquires some basic manners. But I thought WWJD and kept my cool. Yeah. Take that.
